It’s Hard To Find A God

If your brother was a smoker
And your sister was a witch
It’s hard to find a god
If your father was a bully
And your mother was a bitch
It’s hard to find a god
When everything grows cold – we use dirt to fill the hole
Should He see everything
Or is He better blind?
It’s hard to find a god
Should He decide what’s bad and good
Or redefine what is unkind?
It’s hard to find a god
And so the trail goes cold – you use dirt to hide the hole
No prayers there, just thoughts shared
From my friends when they arrived
It’s hard to find a god
Was it just her time to go
Or simply too much overdrive?
It’s hard to find a god
The shovel digs the grave – by then all the dirt’s the same
Yea no prayers there, just thoughts shared
As the earth melts into the sky
It’s hard to find a god
Did He die from natural causes
Or did we bury Him alive?
It’s hard to find a god
Then dirt just fills the hole – Oh my soul. Oh my soul.
Everybody wants one
Everybody needs one
Everybody has one
Though they think they don’t have one
It’s hard to find a god
